Mind-set drives actions. Actions--of both
individuals and organizations--spring from the "philosophy"
or "vision" of the people involved. Your church's growth,
and the means it uses to grow, are driven by your convictions--your
"vision." Otherwise, you simply react, "blown to and
fro by every wind of doctrine."
At Akers Church Building Services, inc. we also have a mind-set,
certain convictions that drive our work. These are our basics. They
are who we are.
Number One: Ministry Driven Design
This part of design is the arrangement, size, and appearance
of the rooms and spaces in the building. We are convinced:
We are not designing monuments to our own
We must not attempt to be faddish, or famous.
We must not design according to some church
The design must be determined by the
ministries of the congregation.
Who will be using the building, and what
will take place there?
What purpose or goals of the church
should this building aid?
How can the appearance of the building
honor God, and draw people to him?
A church building is a tool for the church to
use to accomplish the purpose for which God has placed that
congregation in the world.
is our conviction. All design must be MINISTRY-DRIVEN.
Number Two: Stewardship-Driven
The quality of construction, and the
materials used, are the other side of design.
not always good stewardship.
There must be a balance
between quality and economy.
We must build the best
for the Lord, without being wasteful.
We strive to design and
build for both quality and economy.
understand quality construction as well as good design.
division gives careful attention to all details of bidding
Our oversight of the
construction process ensures economy and quality control.
The initial cost of a
building must be balanced against its lifetime usefulness.
is our conviction. Construction quality must be
