Springfield Church
of Christ
Springfield, Ohio
For the first few years of the
congregation's existence, the Springfield Church of Christ rented
facilities from a Seventh Day Adventist congregation. The Seventh
Day Adventists used the building on Saturday, the Church of Christ
rented it on Sunday. It was not always the best situation--two
congregations using one facility--but it did serve the
congregation well enough for the Church of Christ to grow to need
larger facilities.
When the time came to plan and construct a
building of their own, the Springfield Church of Christ selected
Akers Church Building Services as both designer and builder.
Worship is a major emphasis, so the first phase of the overall
master plan was a sanctuary designed to seat about 475, with
offices for the staff and limited Sunday school space. The
congregation hopes to begin Phase II--an education
addition--before long.
