Northside Christian Church
New Albany, Indiana
Northside is a vibrant, growing congregation on
the north edge of the Louisville (KY) metropolitan area. Akers
Church Building Services had worked with Northside on three
additions to their previous building--a new sanctuary in 1987, a
large Family Life Center/education addition in 1990-91, and a
small classroom addition in 1999, - so we were especially pleased to
be selected to help plan the congregation's new home.
The new site was Master Planned
to eventually accommodate a congregation of about 5,000. The First
Phase is a large multi-purpose facility, with seating for 1,100 in
the main Centrum, with room for the administration suite plus the
church's extensive youth and children's ministries, in the
surrounding building. One notable feature of the new building is
the "Bibleland" play area, adjacent to the foyer. It
features, among other things, a "whale," where children
can pretend to be Jonah, and an "ark" for young "Noahs".
