Austin Christian Church
Austin, Indiana
When the Austin Christian Church
decided to relocate, they selected Akers Church Building Services
to assist them with the design and construction of their new
facility. They looked at several of our previous projects, and
liked one very much. The end result was a Phase I building very
similar to the one constructed for Cornerstone Brethren in Muncie,
but designed to fit within a very different master plan. The
choice of different colors and the inclusion of the drive-under
canopy--omitted from the Muncie project--kept the building from
looking like a clone. As the congregations move on to Phase II at
some point in the future, the buildings will not look at all
alike.
It is worth noting that the
Austin facility was constructed by Akers Construction Services,
while the almost identical building at Muncie was not. It is
significant that the cost of the Austin project, though it was
completed a year later, was almost $10.00 per square foot less. It
is also worth noting that the final cost was less than the
architect's estimate.
