Sound and Video Systems and Consultants
Good sound reinforcement
in large meeting rooms, like church sanctuaries or multi- purpose
rooms, is not a luxury, but an absolute necessity. In the church,
the content of the message is a first priority. If people cannot
hear or understand, how can they respond properly? So, whether
you are planning a whole new church facility, a sanctuary or
gymnasium addition, or just remodeling your current sanctuary,
careful consideration must be given to the design and installation
of the sound system. In recent years, many churches are also using
multi-media and video, which is best incorporated into the project
from the beginning.
Akers Church Building Services, Inc. has extensive experience
in church building design and acoustics, so we know what makes
a room most suitable for both worship music and the spoken word.
We design to achieve the best room configurations, within the parameters
set by the uses of the room and the church's budget. However, we
recommend that the church interview sound consultants and/or audio
engineers independently, check their references, and select the
one that will best suit your needs. We will then work with the
consultant the church has selected, as the design and construction
documents are prepared, so that when the building is built, adequate
provision will have been made for acoustics and all the necessary
sound and video equipment.
To help you in selecting a firm, Akers CBS has listed below the
names of firms that specialize in designing and/or installing sound
and/or video systems. These are some we know of, but of course
there are many others. We have no business arrangement or connection
with any of these, and they are listed in alphabetical order. (An
asterisk [*] indicates a firm that has worked on one of our projects.)
Some consultants will design a system for which you can get competitive
bids, others, in addition to design, also sell and install the
equipment they recommend. Some only design and install systems
they sell. Be sure and check with past clients of the firms you
consider. If possible, visit some of their installations and listen
to their systems. Remember, price is not the only consideration.
The kind of service a firm provides, whether they will train your
people in operating the equipment they install, and ultimately,
how well the system carries the message are all issues that must
be considered.
