The contemporary Worship Center addition to the Southport
Heights Church was designed to accommodate not only all the
worship services of the growing congregation, but their extensive
music and drama ministries as well. Seating capacity is just over
700 on the main floor, and a little over 300 in the balcony. The
choir risers are fully removable to clear the stage for dramatic
productions, and an overhead catwalk houses computer controlled
theatrical lighting.
After completion of the new Worship Center, the church's old
sanctuary was remodeled--including the installation of a new
second floor--to make room for several new classrooms for
Southport's growing Sunday School program and Day Care Ministry.
